In a significant step toward fostering African unity and development, Nigeria recently hosted a delegation of Accountant-Generals from Somalia who visited to study the country’s public finance architecture. The visit highlights the increasing emphasis on knowledge sharing and mutual cooperation as vital tools for addressing shared challenges and unlocking the continent’s potential.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Armstrong Takang, the Managing Director of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), underscored the importance of sustained intra-continental collaboration in shaping Africa’s future amid evolving global dynamics.

“It is my firm conviction that sustained intra-continental mutual cooperation and collaboration will remain key to defining Africa’s future, especially in light of shifts in global dynamics. It is always promising to see African countries learning from each other and working together towards solving shared challenges and meeting shared ambitions,” Dr. Takang stated.

The Somali delegation’s visit, organized with the support of Nigeria’s Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, served as a platform for exchanging best practices in public finance management and institutional strengthening.

Dr. Takang reiterated the crucial role of knowledge sharing and transfer in driving Africa’s integrated development. “As I shared with the delegation, knowledge sharing and transfer are vital to Africa’s integrated development and are needed now more than ever to steer the continent onto a self-sustaining path toward a future of prosperity,” he noted.

He also reaffirmed MOFI’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders across Africa to deepen investments in critical sectors that would accelerate development across the continent.

The visit highlights Nigeria’s leadership role in promoting economic cooperation and capacity-building within Africa, serving as a hub for expertise in public finance and investment strategies.

Dr. Takang expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the initiative, particularly the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, for their instrumental role in facilitating this significant exchange.
