Hajiya Fatima Nana Mede was the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Budget and National Planning from Nov 2015 to July 2017. She acted as an adviser to the minister on the formulation of policy in relation to the ministry and its constituent departments; planning programmes and allocating responsibility to Divisional Heads; and directing and controlling the activities of the units and departments of the ministry.

As an accounting officer, she ensured that the financial resources allocated to the ministry were managed appropriately. She also managed and provided oversight on budget function, budget implementation and fiscal policies of the Federal Government of Nigeria as well as in the development of the Nigeria Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).
In addition, she provided administrative leadership in the development, management and monitoring of budgets and financial reporting for all capital projects.
