MOFI CEO Honoured as African Finance Industry Personality of the Year
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), Dr. Armstrong Takang, has been conferred with the prestigious African Finance Industry Personality of the Year Award by the African Leadership Organization (ALO).
The award was presented at the 14th African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year Awards Ceremony in Casablanca, Morocco, an event that brought together over 250 high-ranking leaders from across Africa. Attendees included Presidents, Ministers, CEOs of major African corporations, and key decision-makers spanning various sectors of the economy.
Due to prior commitments, Dr. Takang was unable to attend in person but was ably represented by his wife and two of his children. Speaking on the recognition, he expressed deep gratitude and humility, describing the award as a reminder of the responsibility to continuously pursue excellence and contribute to the advancement of society.
“As someone who believes that the fulfilment derived from dignified labour is sufficient reward in itself, I consider awards, however prestigious, as only the cherry on top. Yet, they serve as a powerful reminder that as we work towards a better world, there are keen witnesses to our journey. This must be a guiding principle for all, compelling us to commit to excellence and the sustained progress of humanity,” he stated.
Dr. Takang further noted that the honour places an even greater burden on him to strive for more, give more, and create greater pathways for a lasting legacy in Africa’s financial sector.
He extended his congratulations to fellow awardees, including:
• H.E. Andry Rajoelina, President of Madagascar
• H.E. Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of Uganda
• H.E. Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, Nigeria
• H.E. Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources and Petroleum, Angola
• Dr. Seinye Lulu-Briggs, Chairman of Moni Pulo Limited, Nigeria
• Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, CEO of First Bank of Nigeria Ltd.
• Professor Kevin Chika Urama, Chief Economist/VP for Economic Governance & Knowledge Management, African Development Bank Group
Dr. Takang’s recognition underscores his significant contributions to Africa’s finance industry, particularly in driving investment, innovation, and economic transformation through MOFI’s strategic initiatives. His leadership continues to inspire excellence in financial governance and economic growth across the continent.
